Progress Report 2022 Week 16

Last week, though I didn’t explicitly lay out my goals, I had intended to plow forward with the second draft of Evolution’s Hand Book 2: Dying Breath. Then, once I finished that, I intended send it off to beta readers and turn my attention back to Evolution’s Hand Book 3: Primary Target. Did I finish the second book’s second draft? If not, why not? Let’s look at the raw numbers first.

Progress Report 2022 Week 16 By the Numbers

It was a long week…

I should probably add the number of chapters I managed to rewrite to the infographic, because that’s a better indicator than mere word count for Dying Breath. I managed to get through eight chapters. That doesn’t sound like much, but most of these were double-sized chapters.

Considering that I lost two days to Real Life Family Events, the numbers are not all that bad. Plus, one of the RLFEs was impactful enough to throw me off stride for three days. Despite that, I continue to improve on Dying Breath’s first draft.

Reflections on the Facebook Ad Campaign

My FaceBook ads convinced four people to join my e-mail list. The lucky members of the list will receive my first newsletter next week. But the more I think about it, the convinced I am that the list needs to be larger for book’s launch. I want to give my books the best sendoff I can, and that means more potential readers on the e-mail list.

For the coming week, I’m going to rework the home page and launch another ad campaign. My goal is to refine my presentation so I clearly communicate the book’s appeal. Moreover, I want to communicate that appeal in a way that potential readers will respond to! The second image I used for the FaceBook ad drove clicks to the landing page. Unfortunately, my landing page wasn’t up to the task. I’m going to try to fix that.

Goals for the Week in Progress Report 2022 Week 16

  1. Revise the E-Mail Campaign’s Landing Page: Before the book’s launch is the perfect time to experiment!
  2. Continue Rewriting Dying Light: I’ve rewritten through chapter 46. I’ll need one, maybe two more weeks to finish it.

What Do You Think?

How do you recover your momentum after a Real Life Family Events — especially ones that pack a punch? Or is the best way just to keep on keeping on? I’d love to hear your perspective in the comments!

  1. I’m starting to feel like a punching bag with all these RLFE. I thankfully haven’t had any knockout blows, but it’s been more like a constant one-two combo.

It’s frustrating, but I think all we can do is keep moving forward. Even if that’s only in tiny increments.

For list building, you should look at BookFunnel’s Group Promos. That can be a good way to build up some numbers.

    1. It was another week of RLFEs… Man. I’m starting to feel a little thin, shield and energy wise…
But you’re right. Pushing forward is the best option.
I’m going to look into BookFunnel. I will probably take another stab at Facebook ads, because I have a feeling my landing page is lacking. If I just change the landing page, then rerun the last campaign, that’s as close to an A/B test as I’m going to get.
