Real Life Family Events (RLFEs) and Real Life Work Events (RLWEs) are pretty much a given nowadays. Both struck this week. For RLFEs, the attitude that “at least I’m with my family to share events” is working very well. For RLWEs, well, I’m being compensated for my time. Also, it’s called “work” for a reason! That idea is a cliche, but I found it comforting nonetheless. That said, let’s take a look at the numbers for this week.
Progress Report 2023 Week 18 By the Numbers
Last week, the steampunk chapters wrote themselves! Unfortunately, this week, I wasn’t writing steampunk chapters…
On the down side, I only hit 9,187 words for the week. On the up side, I wrote every day I planned to write (5 days total). The reason for the lower output is that the chapters I wrote were hard. Atticus Porter’s chapter dealt with intoxication, and I wanted it to be realistic and free of melodrama and cliche. Leon Weber’s chapter was really sad. I like the guy, but things are about to bypass bleak and go straight to tragic. Plus, I needed to research uniforms for his chapters. It’s a long story, but it’s a solid thematic addition, I think.
I’m going to declare the week a success. I’m nearing the final stretch for Evolution’s Hand Book 5: Split Infinities. Seems like I only started writing it yesterday! But no, it was February 5th — 2023, even!
Progress Notes
Here’s how I did compared to my goals from last week:
- Finish Atticus Porter’s Pinch 2: Done!
- Finish Jadwiga Janczak’s Pinch 2: Done!
- Finish Leon Weber’s Plot Turn 2: Done!
- Finish Melchizedek Conrad’s Plot Turn 2: Not started
- Finish Matsushita Sachi’s Plot Turn 2: Not Started
Porter’s Pinch 2 required more work than I anticipated. In fact, it required an entire additional chapter to get everything in place. I figured Matsushita Sachi’s Plot Turn 2 was going to be a stretch, anyway, so I’m not too concerned I didn’t get to it.
Goals for the Week in Progress Report 2023 Week 18
Here are my goals for the coming week:
- Finish Melchizedek Conrad’s Plot Turn 2
- Finish Matsushita Sachi’s Plot Turn 2
- Finish Atticus Porter’s Plot Turn 2
- Finish Leon Weber’s Resolution
I’m not going to include a fifth stretch goal this week. There are a lot of family and work things going on this week, so I’ll keep my goals realistic.
